First Official Fundraiser Coming Soon

The first official Fiveway Films fundraiser for our debut movie DEAD LIES is imminent.

On Friday 27th January 2012 at 12pm (GMT) writer/director Gary Spate will embark on Fiveway’s first ever fundraising tweetathon. He will be on Twitter at @FivewayFilms from 12pm on Friday until 8pm on Sunday without any sleep with the aim of raising £5000 towards the Dead Lies movie’s Film Fund.

Gary is no stranger to tweetathons having stayed up through several of fellow movie director AD Lane’s tweetathons for his ‘Invasion of the Not Quite Dead‘ movie. In fact it was AD Lane’s passion that gave Gary the original inspiration to follow his dreams and produce his own movie, that was when Dead Lies was born.

DEAD LIES is a 100% fan-funded independent thriller movie (with a touch of horror) set in and around the county of Lincolnshire in the United Kingdom. The story was devised in July 2011 and has been in the scriptwriting stage since then. Script is now close to completion. The movie has so far attached two amazing actors and one other recognisable face (if you’re a fan of football/soccer). David Anderson and Simon Burbage are both professional actors who, once we’d seen their showreels, we couldn’t refuse them a part. Former English Premier League footballer Gary Croft completes the movie’s terrible trio. This will be Croft’s first foray into acting but one he’s looking to grab hold of with both hands. We’re proud and honoured to have the three starring in our movie.

Joining Gary on this epic journey of sleep deprivation, hallucinations and fundraising is Gary’s brother Kelvin. Kelvin, like Gary, shares an interest in filmmaking although other work commitments has sidelined this passion for many years. This is Kelvin’s first involvement in the movie project to date although we’re sure he’ll be more prominent behind the scenes once the movie moves into full pre-production later in the year.

During the tweetathon Gary will be talking about the project, what’s happened so far, where he intends to go with the movie and maybe even a few snippets of info about the storyline itself which is still a closely guarded secret. The overriding aim of this tweetathon though is to raise as much cash as possible to ensure that the project runs on time, on budget and, most importantly, as successful as is humanly possible.

You can get involved in the tweetathon by ReTweeting (RT) some of the tweets over the course of the weekend, making a donation to our Film Fund and encouraging all your family, friends, colleagues and nextdoor neighbour to also do the same. This is YOUR movie project just as much as ours and we want to make it as good as we can under the constraints of a very modest budget (in independent film terms anyway).
